Financial Controls Analyst

IntelliSource is seeking a Financial Controls Analyst for our industrial equipment business partner’s new corporate office. The Financial Controls Analyst reports to the CFO, this position is responsible for ensuring that all of the company’s control documentation including narratives, control matrix, delegation of authority and segregation of duties are up to-date and properly maintained based on Sarbanes-Oxley standards.  This position will also work collaboratively with functional leadership to review and test key business processes and their related controls and provide recommendations for improvement.
 
General Responsibilities
 
  • Responsible for the completeness of all financial compliance and controls documentation for the company.  Position will review and update all major business cycle Control Narratives, Control Matrix, Delegation of Authority and Segregation of Duty process documentation and applicable controls. 
  • Works collaboratively with functional leadership to periodically test narratives and related controls for completeness and effectiveness. 
  • Recommends both business process and financial control improvements to leadership and will work as a business partner to help implement changes. 
  • Reviews and approves of inventory cycle count and adjustments and will participate in physical inventory counts as needed. 
  • Works collaboratively with both internal and external auditors on the annual audit and special projects as required. 
  • Stays current with any changes to the financial compliance and controls landscape, and will work with leadership to plan for and implement changes to the company’s controls structure. 
  • Utilizes Lean Six Sigma or other continuous improvement methodologies to eliminate waste, improve accuracy and build quality into processes and solutions. 
  • Implements and maintains policies, procedures and intra-departmental communications; maintains internal relationships by encouraging and providing a timely, two-way flow of information between subordinates, management, related parties working within the financial compliance and controls function.
 
 
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
 
  • Knowledge of computer solutions including Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office, and SAP
  • Previous experience working as an auditor with a background in Sarbanes-Oxley
  • Strong interpersonal/customer service skills
  • Demonstrated proficiency as a self-motivated professional
  • Ability to work under the pressure of and meet deadlines
  • Effectively operate within a multi-tasking environment
  • Ability to read and understand technical manuals and procedural documentation
  • Ability to translate objectives and targets into effective measures of operational performance
  • Ability to discuss, understand and recommend business processes and be able to map the as-is and to-be process with process modeling tools
  • Good organizational skills
  • Ability to supervise and lead team
  • Experience and proficiency in leading and managing projects
  • Ability to know your audience and communicate in user-friendly language with all levels of the organization

Requirements
  • BSBA Accounting, CPA Preferred
  • 5 + years’ experience in Auditing (internal or external) or as a company finance leader with a strong controls background in a Sarbanes-Oxley
  • Public company experience preferred
